Chapter Two
"He sounds so worried, mama, are you sure its safe for us to visit Faye?"
"Of course it is Tira," Cuiledwhen said, efficiently wrapping a cloth around a cooled pie, "your father just can’t get past his hatred to see that not all humans are evil."
"They did kill our people for no reason," I said, watching my father stomp back to the barn, "he has a right to hate them."
"Child, you can’t judge one person by the actions of another. Our family doesn’t know Phantom and he deserves to have us spare our opinions of him until we get to know him properly. Now gather that other pie and get a move on, I don’t want to lose the light."
Mama had a point, not all humans could be evil, there had to be some good ones in the world and I wanted to give Phantom a chance to prove himself. My stomach started doing small flips as our footsteps carried us closer to the Solbar family home, I felt guilty for being there. I was going against Arbellason’s wishes and I was even getting excited to meet a human (I hoped I’d get a chance to talk with him and hear his stories).
We reached a narrow, dirt path that lead to a wooden door and I stood, staring at the house; it was smaller then our home, but it was beautiful. I was amazed that another living being possessed the same building ability that my father had and to think, he was a human.

Cuiledwhen knocked lightly on the door and I watched her suck in a deep breath, she looked nervous, but I couldn’t understand why she would be. The door squeaked open and a breathtaking young elf stood confidently in the archway, "Can I help you?"

"Oh Faye, you look just as lovely as the last time I saw you," my mother gushed. "I hope we aren’t intruding, but I wanted to bring you a couple homemade treats to welcome you to Tara Emata."
"How wonderful, please come in and have a seat at the table. It is so nice to have friendly visitors come and see us," Faye said, backing away from the door. "I don’t think I could bear anymore curious, rude neighbors."
"Poor darling," Cuiledwhen purred, "don’t you fret about any of them another minute. You certainly shouldn’t be put under any undo stress in your condition. Now go sit, put your feet up and I will cut you a thick slice of pie."
"Thank you Cuiledwhen for your kindness," Faye said, slowly lowering herself into a chair. "Young one, why don’t you go outside and find adventure, I’m sure it will be more fun than sitting in here with your mother and I."

My eyes lit up at Faye’s suggestion, "mama, may I please be allowed outside?"
"I suppose it will be all right, but I want you to stay within the sight of the house and do not cause any trouble."
"I’ll be good, mama, I promise."

Oooh! Baby on the way… and not just any baby, a human/elf baby. This ought to be interesting! Faye is so cute; she’s got one of my favorite of Enayla’s skins.
Tira is pretty wise for such a young kid. But I guess the circumstances surrounding her childhood and whatnot would cause some quick growing up on her part.

ooooh a baby! How exciting! And for a “Phantom” he doesn’t seem too dark and mysterious. No wonder Faye fell for him–he’s quite good-looking!
haha
I wonder if Arbellason will actually come and help the birthing–that should be interesting.

Tira’s such a sweety, and wise beyond her years too. I hope Arbellason hustles over there & gets past his bigotry! Yes, we do like Phantom!

Great story! I’m also in the process of writing my own elvish story. I’ve just read all the chapters of yours and I’m hooked. I’ll be checking back often for the next chapter.
And I cant wait to see the baby!

I hope that Tira is able to overcome the prejudice of her family and can see others for who they are inside and not just what they are. Phantom seems like a good place to start. I can’t wait to see the baby.

More please! I’m so glad that Tira isn’t as judgmental as the adults in her life.

Whew, dad sure doesn’t like humans at all! (Not that I can blame him, but he should adjust to changing times.) Good for Cuiledwhen, teaching her daughter not to judge people by their race, but to get to know them as individuals first. Faye is a very pretty elf! And I love her gown!! Wow, Faye get up a lot to be with Phantom. I hope he does make her happy, no matter how rude their neighbors are when the come to visit. Hmm, I agree with Tira. I hope it wasn’t fear her mom was showing, because then she’s not listening to what she told her daughter, to judge people as individuals. Ooo, the first halfbreed baby is about to be born! *cheers*
